Setting your Dining table for the Christmas season should be simple and fun.
I always say that if you don’t enjoy doing something you aren’t doing it right..(in most cases) A great seasonal table setting is one of those things that I have learned to love from years of planning. I have also found the best way to enjoy a table setting is get it just the way you want it set the first time, and leave it that way throughout the season. I do this so whenever we are ready for dinner or a gathering during the holidays it is one less thing I have to worry about setting up.
Today lets talk about a few simple Christmas Dining table settings you can try this holiday season.
First, let’s talk dishes, I have three types of dishes in my home
- Plastic kids only
- Everyday pretty dishes
- Fine China – for looks and sentimental use only because no one has time to hand wash it, and I would cry if it broke…
- Can you guess which ones I used on this table setting….these are my everyday dishes.
Next lets talk about choosing a centerpiece
- Think about function, are you going to need your table to place food on or do you have a buffet. You will need to determine this before you can move on.
- Find items that have a similar look but vary in height or size that will fit your table setting needs, but allow you to move or place food around anything you do put on the table
- Don’t forget to think about once your centerpiece is on the table, and what conversation will feel like with people across from you. If the centerpiece you pick is too tall you wont be able to comfortably see the person across from you.
- Do you want full coverage centerpiece? If you do like fresh greens, try running them down your table and layer them into your centerpieces like shown.
Choosing Place-mats, Chargers and Napkins
- A great place-mat will ground your place setting, look for something that you can rotate into your seasonal decor that adds texture and dimension to get this look.
- The Merry Christmas napkins I purchased, are less versatile but give this table the holiday greeting needed for any Christmas Dinner Party setting – Quick tip if you turn these over so that you can’t see the saying most guest don’t notice the holiday greeting and they can be used throughout the year.
- I love a good solid plate setting charger. I can’t say enough about investing into a great charger, if you plan to host parties or enjoy setting tablescapes, select a charger color that will work with all your seasonal table settings.
I hope these tips have helped you think about ways you can create your own simple Christmas table decor setting. Ready for more Holiday table setting inspiration, you wont want to miss…
